Renting a 3 bedroom apartment in the prime areas of Lisbon, for example, is around 3,150 euros - it is more expensive than in São Paulo, Vancouver and Johannesburg. In Hong Kong (the most expensive city on the planet) will require 12,919 euros to rent a T3 in the same conditions. According to Mercer's Global Cost of Living Survey of 2019, "it has fallen two places in the ranking after a significant rise of 44 positions last year." Of the top 10 most expensive cities, eight are Asian. Hong Kong holds the leading position - it is followed by Tokyo and Singapore in the second and third places, respectively. The ranking is made according to the prices of goods, services and rent - from the price of a beer, coffee or water, to the price of jeans or a movie ticket. Among the 208 cities surveyed worldwide, Mercer selected 15, disclosing some of the prices practiced in these places. The list consists of Beijing, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, Luanda, Lisbon, Moscow, New York, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Vanbvouver and Zurich. Rental market seen under the magnifying glass One of the items analyzed was the price of "renting a three-bedroom, unfurnished apartment by international standards in an appropriate neighborhood of 200 m²." In Portugal, a house in these conditions will have a monthly cost of 3,150 euros - the Portuguese capital is more expensive than for example Johannesburg (2426.72 euros), São Paulo (2985.96 euros) or Vancouver (2535.82 euros). In London, renting a T3 will cost 5728, 10 euros, almost as much as in Singapore, whose price is around 5,727.32 euros. In New York will require at least 8369.98 euros - less than in Luanda, where a house with three bedrooms and 200 m2 costs per month 9251.03 euros.
